On the train

Managed to catch the earlier train today. I usually do so when I have NICHOKU duty which entails standing on the bridge outside the station greeting the students as they come out of the station on their way to school with a hearty "good morning!" and also making sure they're sticking to the left side. Also after work is done the 2 NICHOKU staff have to go round and do the lockup check. Anyway I'm pretty happy because today is my last one ever! Just wanted to see how this worked from my mobile phone basically ...

The duties of a teacher....?

So tomorrow is the graduation for our grade 6 students. The whole school has been jumping through hoops to try and get ready for tomorrow's ceremony and I must admit the school does put on a really good show for the kids as well as the parents.

But, everyone minus the grade 5 kids and the full time teachers was sent home at around lunchtime leaving the rest of us to clean the whole place from top to bottom, inside and out. I had a team of 4 grade 5 kids helping me weed the sports field. It was insane. The little Hitler lady that is in charge of cleaning throughout the school this year would keep coming out to us and telling us (yes, all 5 of us) that we needed to do more and do more faster.

Silly bugger. The kids were working really well and even I was putting my back into it and that's all we got from it. The kids were asking me what her problem was and we had a laugh together. All in all a good bonding exercise for getting to spend some time with some kids I've known and taught since day one and never spoken to in Japanese before.

I always find it interesting the things you can talk about when there is no language barrier and the kids agreed too.

OK

Yep ok, just been checking all the various settings and what not and everything seems to be in order. Hey, I wonder if I can update this from my iPhone?

Today was White Day. Another silly thing we have to do here. In Japan the girls give chocolates to the boys they "like" for Valentine's and on March 14th, exactly one month later, the boys "should" give chocolates back to each of the girls they got something from on February 14th. So I wandered down to the supermarket and found a nice box of choccies and told the four ladies who pitched in to give me something on Valentine's day "here, it's not much but it's something. You'll have to share"

Hahaha

Welcome!

Decided to try and give this another go, hey I might even keep it up for a while this time.

News! News!

Had a daughter. Quit my job. Leaving Japan.

whoooooo!

That's enough for now
